Obituary

James B. Young, 79, of Nitro, WV, passed away October 26, 2025, at home.

He is the son of Earl M. and Beulah L. Bailey Young. Soon after his 1964 graduation from Nitro High School, James joined the U.S. Army, serving from 1966 to 1969, being stationed in Germany during the Vietnam conflict. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to his hometown, where he met his future wife, Rosalie C. Bailey.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, William “Bill” Young.

James is survived by his wife, Rosalie, of 55 years; his daughter Christina Pocrnich (Tony), son Ryan, grandsons Jackson Pocrnich and Caleb Pocrnich, all of Nitro; his mother 102-year-old Beulah Young; sister Nina Saunders; brother Steve Young (Susan), all of Rocky Fork, and sister-in-law, Mindy Young of Hurricane, WV.

James began his career with C&P, Bell Atlantic, and Verizon, after 33 years of service, retired as an Engineering assistant.

He was a member of the Stewart Park Church of Christ in Cross Lanes. James enjoyed football, especially WVU.

James donated his body to the West Virginia Osteopathic School of Medicine, in Lewisburg. A memorial service will be held at a later time.
