Obituary

James Betts Jr, 76 of Deepwater, WV received his wings on October 22, 2022 at home. James was born to Inez and James Betts Sr.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Inez and James Betts Sr.; grandparents, Steve and Esther Wilkerson; grandmother, Eliza Mason; and his brother, Eddie Lee Betts.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughters, Amy Acey and Kristina Betts; son, Joel Acey, WV;  his sisters, Olivia Williams, (late Raymond), NJ and Cherry Hendretta, (William) Davis, NC.; aunt, Betty Jo Mason Brown;  six grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews  and his special friend Marion Wallace and children.

James is a member of the First Baptist Church of Kimberly, WV, Past Master of Bright Hope Lodge #9, Montgomery, WV, 32nd degree Mason, Commander in Chief of the King Solomon Evers 305, and a member of the Shriners.

James was employed with the Cramer Security and Investigations, Beckley, WV and also worked for the coal mines and a contractor for the USPS for many years.

Memorial Service will be 1 pm Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Brookside Ministries Church, Mount Carbon with Rev. Larry Smith officiating.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston at a later date.
