Obituary

James Edward Toler, 61, of Charleston, WV, passed away May 15, 2024, at CAMC Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

“Charlie,” as he was known to his family and friends, was born on July 28, 1962, in Charleston, to the late George Toler and Opal O. (Green) Toler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Becky Parsons.

He is survived by his brothers, John Toler (late wife, Joan) and George W. Toler (wife, Cathy), all of Charleston; and the greatest neighbors, Linda White Herring, Tim and Tracy Kemp, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Booker, all of Rand.

Charlie was an animal lover. Before moving to the nursing home, he was able to re-home his precious pets, his cat, Sassy, and his dogs, Molly, Biscuit, Spike and Cleo.

He was a supervisor at Patton Building Services, where he worked for 40 years.

An avid reader, Charlie enjoyed reading mystery novels by author James Patterson. He was a hard worker and was kind to everyone he met. He will be sorely missed.

Memorial service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street East, Charleston, WV.

Visitation will begin one hour prior at the funeral home.
