Obituary
James Michael Wilson, better known as “Mike,” beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and friend, passed away on December 24, 2023, in Sutton, West Virginia. He was born on July 23, 1968, in Rockdale County, Georgia, to his parents, Daniel Lee Wilson and Stella Aycock McCallister.
Mike will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rebecca Wilson, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He is also survived by Buddy McCallister, his loving stepfather that he loved like his own father. Mike also leaves behind his adoring daughters (who always called them “his girls”), Danielle Hagedorn (Seth Hagedorn) and Ashley Wilson (Josh Cloer), whose lives he touched with his unwavering love and support. He also leaves behind his younger siblings, Kathy Neese (Terry Neese) and Richard Aycock (Danielle Aycock) whom he cared for more than words can express. He was a proud grandfather to Tucker Hagedorn and an uncle to his nieces and nephews, who brought him endless joy.
Mike was a hardworking man who dedicated his professional life to the apartment industry. For thirty years, he served as a senior maintenance supervisor, ensuring that countless residents had safe and comfortable homes. In 2023, Mike retired, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and professionalism.
Outside of work, Mike found solace and joy in his favorite pastime: fishing. He loved spending hours on the tranquil waters, casting his line and enjoying the serenity of nature. Fishing was not just a hobby for Mike; it was a way for him to unwind and connect with the world around him.
A celebration of life will be held to honor Mike’s life and to celebrate the memories he created with those he loved later in 2024. Though our hearts ache with his loss, we find solace in knowing that Mike has found peace.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Buddy and Shirley for their unwavering support and compassion during this difficult time. Their presence and assistance provided comfort and strength to Mike’s loved ones. Additionally, the family would like to express their thanks to Barlow Bonsall for their exceptional services and guidance throughout this journey.
Mike Wilson, a man of integrity, compassion, and unwavering love, has left a lasting mark on the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will forever serve as a reminder of the importance of cherishing every moment and finding comfort in the simple joys of life. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
