Obituary
On monday morning, june 11, jane ellen brown of charleston, was released from a body that had been fighting her for an extended time, but which body had embodied her loving spirit for her whole life.
Last month, she celebrated her 44th wedding anniversary with her high school sweetheart, monty brown. She is survived by her children josh brown (cindy) of fairmont and bethany rinn (eric) of pittsburgh, and five grandchildren, sydney, morgan, elizabeth, sarah and katie; three sisters cathy conrad (chuck) of hendersonville, tn, trudy altman (john) of st. Augustine, and amy roberts (tim) of vienna; sister-in-law penelope allen (michael) of allendale ny and brother-in-law dave brown (debbie) of nallen wv; her live-in mother-in-law betsy brown; eight nieces and nephews; twenty-three great nieces and nephews; and her very favorite canine companion, rooney. She was preceded in death by parents jack and erma wentz, and brother steve wentz.
Jane recently retired from serving thirty -eight years as a public school teacher, with two masters degrees from marshall and wvu. She was looking forward to sharing time in retirement with her husband monty from saint marks united methodist church, at the end of this month.
Jane brown was known by everyone who ever met her as the least judgmental and most hospitable person you will ever meet. She was an active leader in church, gifted singer and pianist, lover of children, passionate reader, extraordinary hostess and decorator, card and scrapbook creator, avid shopper, trip and party organizer, and seamstress. She was a 23 trip veteran of disney world and loved to travel. Later in life, she developed a passion for the pittsburgh steelers and pirates. She will not be remembered for her exercise and physical activity acumen. But, when you are the princess who surely notices a pea, why ruin this gift with physical exercise?
Friends and family will gather at 11:00 a.M., on friday, june 15, at saint marks church, in charleston, for visitation and fellowship, followed, at 1:00 p.M. By a worship and celebration of life, death and resurrection, led by the rev’d janet harman and the rev’d rick waller. You are encouraged to remember jane with a gift to saint marks united methodist church homeless jesus fund, in lieu of flowers.
Barlow bonsall funeral home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Condolences can be made at www.Barlowbonsall.Com.
