Obituary
Jean anne “janina” miragliotta, 98, of kanawha city, charleston, passed away of natural causes on october 25, 2017, after a lifetime devoted to her community and extended family.
She was born in crown hill, w.Va. To the late rose & antonio miragliotta, natives of sicily.
A graduate of charleston high school, she worked initially with howard clothes in charleston, then later began a career as a state employee for the west virginia division of motor vehicles.
She was a lifelong member of sacred heart co-cathedral, and belonged to the christopher columbus italian lodge of charleston, the catholic youth organization, the amerita club, the sacred heart sodality, and the optimist club of west charleston.
“janina” is survived by sister, maria (miragliotta) roberts, along with her brother, sam miragliotta, both of kanawha city.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, carmela, brothers, frank, joe, “jimmy” (of tampa, fla) and “tony” basil.
There are more than 30 nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, will remember “aunt janina’s” generosity and kindness to visitors at her home.
Although short in stature with her signature curly dark hair, her heart was immense in love and devotion to family and friends. Among her travels, she visited the hometown in sicily where her parents were born. And to the amazement of many in the family, could remember the specific dialect of italian common to the area.
