Obituary
Jean baker, 92, of kanawha city went to her heavenly home wednesday, february 28, 2018.
Jean was born october 1, 1925, the daughter of benjamin franklin “frank” and blanche elizabeth ferrell. She was a 1944 graduate of charleston high school. It brought her joy to prepare communion at first christian / united disciples of christ church where she was a member for over 69 years. She worked at penny’s for more than 25 years in the ladies’ dress department, where she loved serving her many customers. Jean is missed by all who knew her; her smile would light up the hearts of all around her. She held membership with the order of the eastern star for over 50 years.
Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband, floyd c. Baker; brothers, bob ferrell (wife betty) of charleston and clarence ferrell (wife mary) of hurricane; brother-in-law’s, richard (wife inas) of decatur, il and raymond baker(bloomington, il); and sister-in-law, laveda flessner(husband herb) of roberts, il.
Surviving is her; son, danny lee baker of kanawha city; grandson daniel lee baker of indianapolis, in; sister-in-law, berneta baker of il; nieces, evelyn, joanne, diane, kathy, kim, teresa, and suzanne; nephews, bud and rick; and by special friends, stella wilson patty igo, carolyn arthur, carol sue burgess, and julia ramsey.
A memorial service for mrs. Baker will be held at united disciples of christ church on friday, march 16, at 10:00 a.M. Followed by a burial service at sunset memorial gardens, south charleston. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to united disciples of christ church.
