Obituary
Jean obra davis sheridan, 96, of frederick, md passed away on november 4, 2016. Jean, born in richmond, va was the daughter of minnie seabrooke myers and russell obra davis. They, along with her two sisters, wray lamb boyle and pauline tolson, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, joseph philip sheridan, and son thomas russell sheridan, (virginia), damascus, or.
Jean was a homemaker, a former member of st. Bridget’s roman catholic church, richmond and the basilica of the co-cathedral of the sacred heart, in charleston, wv. She was an active member of the telephone company pioneers of america, various women’s volunteer organizations and bridge club. She enjoyed many years of activities including boating, fishing, crabbing and cooking at locust lodge, the family’s summer home on the potomac river in northumberland county, va.
Jean is survived by jo anne (jody) hoyer, (ralph) charleston, wv, mary ellen mclaughlin, (stephen) columbia, md, philip sheridan, (mary [trish]) charleston, wv and elizabeth gantnier, (john [jeff]) baltimore, md.
Jean will be lovingly missed by grandchildren and great grandchildren: stephen hoyer, (marsha), children brittney, allyson, andrew, samantha and erin, charleston, wv. David hoyer, charleston wv. Shelley sheridan, santa monica, ca. Matthew mclaughlin, astoria, ny. Patricia van leer, (edward), children cole and wesley, columbia, md. Cynthia mclaughlin, laurel, md. Rebecca mclaughlin, edgewater, md. Joseph sheridan, (jessica), children grace and william, columbia, md. Marcus sheridan, (nikki), children danielle, j.T., larsen and casey, burgess, va. Zack brant, cape charles, va. Jean is also survived by nephews, hartley, (ann) powhatan, va and william (diane) lanexa, va and niece katherine potocki, children christine and john, austin, tx.
Services will be held november 19, 2016 at bliley funeral home, 3801 augusta avenue, richmond, va 23230. The funeral service at 11:00am will be followed immediately by interment at forest lawn cemetery. A one hour visitation will precede the funeral service. Bliley funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial mass will be said on a date to be announced, in jean’s honor at st. Paul’s, in hague, va.
The family would like to thank the staff of eastbrook nursing home for the kind and loving care given to jean this past year.
