Obituary

John L. Daugherty, 72, of Athens, OH, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2023, surrounded by family in Hospice care.

He was born March 9, 1951, in Radford, VA, a son to the late John H. Daugherty and the late Lula Mae Wilcoxen Daugherty. He was retired from the Automotive business, enjoyed hunting with his brother Mitch and fishing on his best friends Brian and Becky Mansfield’s Pond.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Roy A. Daugherty, and sister Loretta Jean Fezzel.

He is survived by his daughter, Erica (Skip) May of Apollo Beach, FL; sons, Shane (Phyllis) Spencer of Charleston, WV, and JC (Alexandra) Daugherty of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren, Taylor (Connor) Hegarty of Tampa, FL, Zach Hodges of Spring Hill, FL, Cade Afeld of Apollo Beach, FL, Myna Spencer of Ravenswood, WV, Kayla (John) Miller of Charleston, WV, Cory (Becky) Holstine of Charleston, WV, Logan Halstead of Charleston, WV, Liam Daugherty of Clearwater, FL, Charlie Daugherty of Clearwater, FL, and Penelope Daugherty of Clearwater, FL; one great-grandson, Logan Hegarty; brother, Morgan Mitchell Daugherty of Athens, OH, several nieces and nephews
