Obituary

John Lester McCormick, age 77, of Charleston, WV, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Hubbard Hospice House following a brief illness.

John was born August 6, 1948, in Welch, WV, to Creasie Mae Graham and John Wilbert McCormick. John was a loving father, brother, and friend. He had a giving heart and was loved by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. McCormick (Jerlean), and Creasie M. Graham (Joe). He was also preceded in death by his brother, Wilbert Zernell, and nephew, Lennell.

John is survived by his children, John P. McCormick (Bridgette) of Charleston, Crystal McCormick of Charleston, and their mother, Paula Ward of Charleston, and Dezarae Williams (Paul) of Parkersburg, WV; brothers, Steven Maurice, Daniel Carl (Sharon) of Cleveland, OH; sister, Brenda Doris Griffin (Martin) of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Venita McCormick of Cleveland, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street East, Charleston, WV, with Rev. Linda Duncan will officiate.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home
