Soon after high school, Joseph enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served two combat tours in Iraq. He was preceded in death by his mother, Erin Estep Ziegler; brothers, Josh Hatfield and Justin Ziegler; Paternal Grandmother, Charlene Ziegler; Maternal Grandparents, Joe and Pat Estep, and Uncle Bob Ziegler.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Reese; Father, Jeffrey Ziegler (Nancy Lewis) of Hernshaw; brothers, Jeremiah Ferrell of Charleston and Jonathan Ziegler (Emily Mitchell) of Logan; Paternal Grandfather, Bob Ziegler of Hernshaw; Loving Step Mothers, Patti Campbell of Campbells Creek and Melissa Braden of Chesapeake; Aunt Mary Ziegler (Mark Ellisman) of Solona Beach, California; Nieces, Addison and Avery Ferrell of Charleston, Olivia Ziegler, Karleigh and Jaci Jett of Charleston; Nephews Justin Ziegler and Peyton Jett of Charleston and Jaxon Ziegler of Logan; Step Sister, Bobbi and Zach Bowles of Glasgow, and Cousin, Adam Ziegler of San Diego, California.

Joseph also loved the place he called home and fishing in Pocahontas County, where he couldn’t catch a fish, but tried his best. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and catching up with his Marine Corps buddies.
The family would like to thank all of his childhood friends from Marmet, Marine Corps buddies and co-workers from North Dakota for their love and support. The family would also like to thank the nurses and doctors at CAMC Memorial CPICU for their comfort and care during this time.

Joseph, I first met you through Sara and then you became “Uncle Joseph” to Ethan. David always enjoyed when you stopped by just to chat. My hugs and prayers for your family. Fly high to your family in heaven.
