Obituary

Joyce Nell Haid, of Charleston, WV, passed away on September 4, 2025, at home. She was born in Dallas, TX, and raised in Palmer, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Royce Abbott and Glenda Williams, and her brothers, Jack and Damon Abbott.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Bill, of Charleston; her sister, Tisha Nendell, of Austin, TX; children, Kelsie Young and Zach Young, and two grandchildren.

Following her graduation from Palmer High School, she went to Texas A&M, College of the Desert, then got a B.A. in Communication from WVU.

Her last place of employment was at Work Force West Virginia, where she met a lot of amazing people.

Joyce was an avid reader, and many many books. Stephen King, George R.R. Martin and Sheri Tepper were just a few of the authors she liked.

She loved Star Trek, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Law & Order, and Bob’s Burgers.
She was loved by everyone. She loved dogs, cats, and flowers. Plus, she loved her husband very much.

Memorial visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street East, Charleston, WV.
