Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karla Garcia Townsend, age 40, of Charleston, West Virginia. Our beloved daughter, mother, wife, and grandmother passed away peacefully at home on July 14, 2025. She was born on October 12, 1984, in Nuevo León, Mexico.

Karla came to the United States at just 16 months old in June of 1986. She lived with a heart full of love and compassion. Known for her caring nature, Karla was always ready to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. She dedicated 16 years of service as a Certified Nursing Assistant, working in several nursing homes throughout the West Virginia area. Karla attended Capitol High School.

She was the devoted mother of one son, Robert Porter, and a cherished grandmother to two grandchildren: Kane Kingston Porter and Esmé Falen Porter. On June 5, 2024, Karla married the love of her life, Joshua Townsend.

Karla is survived by her husband, Joshua Townsend; her son, Robert Porter; her grandson, Kane Kingston Porter; her granddaughter, Esmé Falen Porter; and her mother, Gabriela Marston.

Karla Garcia Townsend will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Memorial service will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street East, Charleston, West Virginia.
