Obituary

Kenneth F. Kirk, age 88, of East Bank, WV, entered the eternal gates of heaven peacefully October 10, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Jeanene Kirk; his parents, Robie and Mabel Kirk; brothers, Robie, Bill, and Duffy, and sisters, Pat, Doris, Melinda, Gypsie, Peggy and Barbara.

He is survived by his brother, Malcom Kirk; two children, Kerry (Dale) LeMasters and Kenneth (Mary) Kirk II; grandchildren, Cameron (Colleen) LeMasters, Chad (Lydia) LeMasters, Caitlan Kirk and Justin Kirk; great-grandchildren, Connor, Caden and Chase, and my nieces and nephews.

Kenneth grew up in Chelyan, WV. He attended East Bank High School where he played varsity basketball and graduated in 1954. After graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving from 1954 to 1957, which included time at sea on the USS Antietam. After his time with the Marine Corps, he returned to East Bank where he and Jeanene were married in 1958. Kenneth began his career with Chesapeake Ohio Railroad in 1959 and retired after 40 years.

Kenneth had many loves and passions, some of which were bowling, fishing, gardening and traveling. He and Jeanene were able to visit all 50 of the United States. He truly enjoyed being called Poppy by his four grandchildren and loved being able to spend time with each of them through their sports and other activities. He was an active participant of the East Bank Alumni Association.

Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 16, 2024, at United Methodist Church, East Bank, WV, with private burial at Montgomery Memorial Park.
