Obituary

Kimberly Lynn Atkinson, 52, of Marmet, WV, went home and entered her rest with Jesus on April 15, 2025.

She was born in Charleston, WV, on May 25, 1972.

She was preceded in death by parents Wayne Douglas Atkinson of Elkview, WV, and Ruth Ann Atkinson of Charleston, and nieces Whitney and Sydney Pullins.

Kim is survived by husband Charles Buttrick; children Cody Atkinson of Fairmont, WV, (Tori Fanucci) of Fairmont, Kaitlyn Atkinson of Charleston, and Jordan (Forrest) Bounds of Boomer, WV; sisters Tina Pullins of Dunbar and Lori (Terry) Russell of Marmet; step sisters Heather Egnor and Taylor Buttrick; Aunt Mary Estep of Elkview; nieces Kelsey, Marisa, and Madison, and nephew Tyler, along with many other family members and friends.

Kim was a 1991 graduate of Capital High School, then attended WV Career College, earning an associate degree in Accounting and Bookkeeping. She was employed by WVU Medicine and worked at Thomas Hospital’s The Spine and Nerve Center in Charleston.

Kim will be greatly missed by her family and friends. If you knew Kim at all, you know she loved her family and her home was a reflection of that. One of her greatest joys was planning and hosting “get togethers” for family and friends. Everyone was welcome. She also enjoyed traveling and the beach.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Chesapeake Family Worship Center, 11815 MacCorkle Avenue, Chesapeake, with Pastor Terry Russell officiating.

Visitation will begin one hour prior at the church.
