Obituary

Lanny Lee Kelso, 79, of Nitro, WV, passed away April 7, 2026, at Hubbard Hospice House.

He was born October 21, 1946, in Charleston, WV, to the late Robert and Beulah Kelso. Soon after graduating from Charleston High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force, then the Air National Guard, for a total of 22 years of service. He served in the Korean conflict in 1968, Viet  Nam 1970 – 1971 and Desert Storm 1990 – 1991.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved Shih-Tzu, Penny, who brought him many hours of company and comfort.

Lanny is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dreama Kelso, children, Robert Kelso, Michelle Kelso, Timothy Kelso, Christy Hill, Jill Joura, Kim Lulei, Stephanie Rummer and John Bennett, and several beloved grandchildren.

Per his wishes, Lanny will be cremated and his cremains inurned in the columbarium wall at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV.
