Larry D. Taylor, of Charleston, West Virginia, died May 9, 2024. He was born in Montgomery, West Virginia, on November 16, 1934, the son of the late Charles N. Taylor and Katie Mae Watkins Taylor, and grew up in Smithers, West Virginia.

Mr. Taylor was a graduate of Montgomery High School, Class of 1952, West Virginia University, Class of 1956, and West Virginia University College of Law, Class of 1962. Larry served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1960. He practiced law in Charleston for 53 years, having been an attorney for the West Virginia State Department of Highways, FMC Ordinance Plant in South Charleston, West Virginia, Assistant Attorney General under C. Donald Robertson and Chauncey Browning, West Virginia Unemployment Compensation and the private practice of law.

Larry is survived by his widow, Catherine Kenney Taylor; his children from a previous marriage, Brion K. Taylor of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Cynthia B. Taylor of Carolina Shores, North Carolina; brother, Charles V. Taylor and wife Jane of Lynchburg, Virginia, and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was an avid WVU fan and always looked forward to going to Morgantown to see the Mountaineers in the fall or watching them on television.

Memorial service will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street East, Charleston, West Virginia. After the service, the processional will leave for the burial of his ashes at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, West Virginia.

Visitation will begin one hour prior at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Father Gallagher Foundation for the benefit of St. Agnes Church, at 4807 Staunton Avenue, SE, Charleston, West Virginia 25304.
