Obituary

Tuesday’s child is full of grace.

Leah Kathryn Eighmy, beloved daughter of Mona (Lundy) and Ford Eighmy III, was quietly born on Tuesday, September 18, 1984, at Fort Jackson, SC. She gently passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025.

She was a bubbly, bright light in the lives of all who knew her and her laughter would light up a room and lift everyone’s spirits. Leah was an old soul overflowing with warmth and love for those closest to her.

If you ever met her, you will always remember her striking beauty and disarming kindness.

If you were blessed to have actually known her, you will always remember that she loved with abandon and was incredibly generous to anyone struggling, with anything, and without judgment.

Leah stayed in close touch with many of her friends from Tazewell High School these last two decades. Though her dreams took her to California, Alabama and North Carolina, no matter how far she roamed, the mountains were always home.

Big family gatherings filled with love and hugs from her many aunts and uncles, and cousins, were treasured. She was a devoted sister to her three siblings: brother, Ford O. Eighmy IV (Sam), and his twin sister, Sarah, and brother, Jacob. Her many nieces and nephews truly cherished her and adored spending time with her. She has left an indelible mark on each of them: Lyrik, Cash, Ford V (Owen), Leon, Theodore, John Marshall, Atlas, Samson, Daisy and Luna.

Beauty was a passion for her. Leah was a licensed aesthetician and used her talent and skills to help others manifest their own inner beauty. She generously donated her services to recovering cancer patients. She always wanted her friends and clients (who also quickly became friends) to see the beauty she saw in them.

Music was an integral part of who Leah was, ever since she was a tiny little girl listening to Dr Demento with her Dad. Aside from Dolly Parton, she didn’t have a favorite artist. If there were a soundtrack to her life, it would include genres far and wide. From Simon & Garfunkel, Queen, and Missy Elliott, to Bach concertos and Beethoven’s use of Schiller’s Ode to Joy, and on and on even to musical show tunes. Leah had a hauntingly beautiful singing voice that very few got to hear, which made it all the more precious when she serenaded you out of the blue.

A memorial and celebration of her life will be held to honor her memory and share the joy she brought to each of us. Plans are incomplete, but you are invited to email her momma, Mona, at rememberingLeahEighmy@gmail.com if you wish. You will be welcome to attend, and the final details of location, date and time will be sent to you as soon as possible.

Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, for the old order has passed away.”
