Obituary
Maddox David Potter, 16, of South Charleston, WV, went to his eternal home on Friday, January 24, 2025. As he wished, he passed away at his home, where he felt safe and peaceful.
Maddox will be missed endlessly by his family, his fellow golfers, and by those who were blessed to call him a friend. Our family is forever changed but we still Praise God that Maddox is healed, whole, and happy with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are certain that he has been playing golf since the morning he left us.
Maddox was an undeniably smart, witty, talented, athletic and handsome boy. However, his most admirable quality was his unwavering faith in God’s promise. He was steadfast in his belief that God’s plans for his life were for good and he fully accepted God’s will. His quiet courage and exceptional character served as a beautiful reminder to this community and far beyond, that faith is the key to living a life filled with purpose.
It was an incredible gift to raise Maddox during his 16 years on earth and we are so proud of the young man that he became.
A celebration and a perpetual way to honor the life of our Mad Dog will be planned in the near future.
As Maddox would have wanted, should you feel inclined, please make a donation to West Virginia Kids Cancer Crusaders at P.O Box 11029, Charleston, WV 25339.
Condolences may be sent to his family at www.barlowbonsall.com.
Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

I am so very sorry for your loss of Maddox. I have been following your story on Facebook, and what a beautiful story it is. It has given me the strength to move forward from the passing of my nephew & niece (hepatoblastoma) & remember their journey & fight without overwhelming sadness in my heart. To remember them used to be unbearably painful. Now, it brings joy to my heart. Maddox, Gabe, and Olivia fought the good fight and are now resting in the arms of our Lord & Saviour. May we all find peace in that knowledge. Thank you for sharing your story and giving others the strength to move on. I wish you well. Much love and many prayers.

This is one of those moments that grip a soul. What an amazing, blessed, strong young man who has now broken the “surly bonds of earth.” Sent with a prayer to his family and many friends.
