Obituary

Mafred “Jeff” Huffman, 83, of Charleston, WV, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Jeff was the owner of Huffman Electronics for many years. Per his wishes, no service will be held.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 26 years, Diana Huffman from Charleston, as well as Bella, his Shih Tzu; three children: a daughter, Wendy Huffman from Salida, CO, and sons, George Huffman from Salida, and Jeff Huffman; his stepdaughters, Andrea Ruby (Ben) of Charleston and Kristi McCormick (Thomas) of Hinesville, GA; three granddaughters; three great granddaughters, and three siblings, Linda Ramsey (Gary) of Elkview, WV, Sandra Huffman Jones Swain (Bob) of Virginia, and Mike Huffman of Chelyan, WV.

Jeff was born in Charleston, at the Salvation Army Hospital, and grew up in Clendenin, WV. He graduated from Clendenin High School and promptly enlisted in the United States Navy. After the Navy, he settled in Boston, MA. He worked for Digital Equipment Corporation, where he traveled all over the world advising electronic repair companies on the most efficient way to manufacture their stereo equipment. He worked at The Music Box in Framingham, MA, for many years. He was homesick for his beloved state of West Virginia and returned home. He ran Huffman Electronics for many years repairing televisions, VCRs, and stereos.

Following retirement, Jeff spent a lot of time with his hobby of air guns. He would take them apart and rebuild them trying to make them better. He always succeeded. He loved the woods. He loved feeding doves that would come to our yard. He loved cars, especially Subarus. He spent many years modding cars, again, trying to make them better. Again, he always succeeded.

Jeff’s ability to find the silver lining in any bad event was refreshing. He always carried a smile and was grateful for ever day the Lord had given him. He always strove to be a better person, to learn from his mistakes, and be an example to all that knew him. There is now a huge hole where he used to be.
