Obituary

Margaret “Susie” Mayton, 67, of Nitro, WV, formerly of Sherman, NY, passed away August 26, 2024, while fighting a long battle from congestive heart failure. She is now at peace in the arms of God.

Susie is the daughter of the late Harry Luis and Annie (May) Zimmer. She was born and passed on the same date.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Carlisle Rawles Zimmer. and brother, Harry Luis “Chuck” Zimmer, Jr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Brian Keith Zimmer; siblings, Gregory Anthony “Tony” Zimmer, Charmin Scherer, Jeffrey “Scott” Zimmer, Catherine Walters, and Angela Hoult; grandchildren, Zak Zimmer, Lilian C. Zimmer and Ethan X. Zimmer, and great-grandchildren, Alexander Allen Zimmer and Lavender Evelyn Zimmer.

Susie attended Amstrong High School in her hometown of Richmond, VA. Working as a server at The Waffle House suited her perfectly, as Susie was a people-person. I have many fond memories of Susie and she will be sorely missed. She was strong willed and would tell you like it is, and she never turned one away if they needed help. She was a wonderful cook and loved to have a large crowd during the holidays. I think of all times we laugh and cried together, and I will miss those times. May God put Susie in a special place where she will be watching over us, the people who loved and cherished her! RIP SIS!

  2. Many thoughts in my mind of our years growing up together. Susie was a big sister many would want to have and I was the lucky one who got her as a big sister. She taught me many things mostly in her actions of being kind and humble to everyone she meet. She will be missed. I love you sis rest in peace.
