Obituary
Mark douglas lonsinger, 66, of charleston, west virginia peacefully passed away in his home on sunday, october 16, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, charles and mary jane lonsinger and brother david lonsinger.
Mark leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 43 years, karen purdy lonsinger; three sons michael (jocelyn) lonsinger, matthew (teresa) lonsinger and mark daniel lonsinger; 2 grandsons, devin and william lonsinger, whom he adored; and brother, paul lonsinger.
Mark grew up in utica, ohio. He spent many of his childhood days playing football, baseball and running track for utica high school where he graduated in 1969. He then graduated in 1972 with an associate’s degree from mt. Vernon nazarene college. Mark began his career with penn central railroad and 23 years with conrail. He then retired from norfolk southern. He worked as a track supervisor with 40 years of faithful service. Mark had a passion for the great outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed traveling and most of all, sharing his stories of his adventures. His favorite place was the family’s farm located in fallsburg, ohio.
The family wishes to thank dr. Paul monk and staff from the ohio state university wexner medical center. Heartfelt thanks are extended to hospice care of charleston, west virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests to make donations to st. Marks united methodist church in memory of mark lonsinger at 900 washington street e, charleston, wv 25301.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 p.M., saturday, october 22, 2016 at st. Marks united methodist church. A gathering of friends and family will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
