Obituary

Marvin R. Wilkinson, 84, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023, at Sweetbriar Assisted Living after a short illness.

He was a lifelong resident of Sissonville, WV, where he attended Sissonville High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a Christian. Marvin retired from the Carpenter’s Union in 2001 with over 50 years of service. He worked for numerous companies over the years with G&G Builders being the final one when he retired.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Loretta Young Wilkinson. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruby Wilkinson; four sisters, Betty Jane Summers, Jo Ann Petry, Peggy Sue Hammack and Mary Lou Kelly, and his son-in-law, Garry Toothman.

Marvin is survived by his son, Kenneth Wilkinson of Poca, WV; his daughter, Angela Toothman of Sissonville; two grandchildren, Myranda Pike (Alex) of Charleston, WV, Matthew Toothman (Kate Evans) of Kenna, WV; two great-granddaughters, Aspen Pike and Scarlett Toothman; a special nephew, Keith Hammack, and many other nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes will be buried in the Wilkinson Cemetery at a later date.
