Obituary

Mary ann guthrie fenner, 78, of charleston, wv passed away tuesday, august 22, 2017 at hubbard hospice house, charleston, wv.

Mary ann was a lifelong resident of charleston. She was a 1957 graduate of stonewall jackson high school where she was crowned homecoming queen and she was an assistant head majorette. She attended the university of miami and was a homecoming attendant her freshman year.

She was a beautiful person all around who won many titles in beauty pageants during the late 1950’s. She was crowned miss west virginia, usa in 1958. She also won the titles and was honored to serve as miss guthrie air force base and was a member of queen sylvia’s court during the wv walnut festival. Mary ann was crowned queen during the south charleston armed forces day parade.

Mary ann loved camping and dancing. She enjoyed the time spent with her family at their cottage on the elk river. She was also an animal lover.

She was preceded in death by her father, ira “wood” woodrow guthrie.

She is survived by her loving husband, russell fenner of charleston, wv; mother, jessie mundy guthrie of charleston, wv; stepchildren, eric (lisa) fenner of perrysburg, ohio and craig fenner of columbus, ohio; sister, carol (cecil) boggess of charleston, wv; niece, kimberly (jerry) vorholt of charleston, wv and two great-nieces and 3 great-great nephews.

As per mary ann’s request there will be no services.
