I have so many great memories with Mia, Ms Carr and Granny Rice. The first time I ever ate collared greens was in her kitchen on 2nd Ave. When she was in better health she would fix me a pot when I would come into town to visit. Mia and I used to take Granny all over Kanawha County to play bingo and every now and then we would play with her. She was no nonsense and kept a pistol on her. Granny was such a caring soul and would help anyone if it was in her power to. I will never forget her kindness or her laugh, she had to cutest laugh – it was loud and contagious. She had the cleanest and warmest bathroom in all of Charleston, that was constant from the time I met her in 1994 until the last day I saw her in her home. Watch over Mia and the kids, Granny. I hope you are free and at peace! LOVE YOU
