Obituary

Mary Rita DuBois Caldwell passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones after a brief battle with cancer.

Mary was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia, where she built a life centered around family, faith, and dedication to others. She spent her professional career at CAMC Hospital, where she worked in patient accounts until her retirement.

Mary was one of ten children born to Kenneth and Georgene DuBois. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Cynthia Campise, her brother David DuBois, and late husband Tom Withrow.

She is survived by her loving siblings: Sue (Charlie) Allen, Kelly (David) Sadd, Jackie Kay, Dick (Missy) DuBois, Jim (Amy) DuBois, Julia (Mike) Burns, and Martha (Bill) Anderson, Chet Calloway.

Mary was a devoted mother to her four children: Thomas(Carrie) Withrow, JoAnna (Jon) Eplin, Emily (Joe) Pacifico, and Daniel (Erin) Withrow.

Her most cherished role was that of “Nonny.” She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: John Withrow, Grace Withrow, Quinn Withrow, Jaxson Eplin, Jillian Eplin, Jaycee Eplin, Mila Pacifico, Johanna Withrow, Ellie Withrow, Ruairi Withrow, Zoe Caldwell, Violet Caldwell, and Zeta Caldwell.

In her later years, Mary shared a wonderful life with her husband, David Caldwell, splitting time between her two favorite places—Florida and West Virginia.

Mary found her greatest joy in her family. She adored her many nieces and nephews. Always held a beautiful smile, and sweet voice full of loving words and encouragement. She rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandchildren in their many activities and took pride in being present for every special moment.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

She always spoke of family and missed them all when she was in Florida too. She was just a wonderful sweet soul to everyone. Im sure she’s singing with the Angels and looking over us all til we meet again. Rest in Peace.

  4. Craig Cupil says:

Hello Thomas and Carrie. Please except condolences from me and the Cupil Family.

  5. Mary was one of the most loving and caring people I had the joy of knowing. For many years, she was a second mother to me and a light in my life. She was encouraging and supportive, but wasn’t afraid to give tough love if you needed it. To know Mary was to love Mary. Sending love to Dave and family. ❤️
