Obituary

Melani Lucas, 62, of Charleston, West Virginia, formerly of Browns Creek, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, at Hubbard Hospice House, surrounded by her loving sisters.

Melani was a devoted homemaker who found joy in caring for her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. She will be remembered for her love of life, her faith in the Lord, quiet strength, kind heart, and the love she shared so freely with those closest to her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Brian Lucas; her mother, Carol Surface; her father, Raymond McKinney; and two sisters.

Melani is survived by her children, Scott Lucas, Joshua McKinney (Brandy Meadows), Bucky Wright ( xxx ), Carol Hager (R.C. Hodges), Amber Lucas; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Kim Kidd, Beverly Eisenhuth, and Ruby McClure; her aunt, Judy Parsons; nieces and nephews, as well as extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

In keeping with her wishes, services will be private.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hubbard Hospice House for their compassionate care and support during Melani’s final days.

Melani’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
