Obituary

Melissa Weant, 44, of Ranson, WV, passed away March 19, 2024. She was a great joy in many people’s lives and was loved and will be heartfully missed by many.

Melissa was born in 1979 in Oklahoma to Nancy and George Weant. She then moved with her family to Cary, NC, where she attended Oak Hill Academy from 8th grade until graduation. While at Oak Hill Academy, she was a cheerleader, played volleyball and graduated one year early with honors. Melissa began her college education at North Carolina State, but then changed her focus to nursing and graduated from Wake Technical Community College with a degree in nursing. She pursued a nursing career for many years. In 2011, she had her wonderful son, Blaine. She had the joy of settling in West Virginia and surrounding areas in 2011. She was in the process of pursuing an education at Liberty University in order to be a drug counselor to help others struggling with addiction as she herself had been helped.

She was preceded in death by her mother in 1987 and her father in 2021.

Melissa is survived by her son, Blaine Hough; sister, Jennifer Weant; brother-in-law, Chris Hall; niece, Ashly Hall, and nephew, Alex Hall. She is also survived by her goddaughter, Hannah Timmons, and best friend, Brooke Timmons.
