Obituary

Meredith Keith Jones went to his heavenly home on January 2, 2024. He was 90 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Crona Rupert “Wink” Jones and Sylvia Sibyl (Ramsey) Jones Martin of Lansing, WV, and his brother, Gerald Ramsey “Jerry” Jones of Berea, KY., and his ex-wife, Margaret Gertrude (Jenkins) Jones of Lexington, KY, the mother of his children.

Keith is survived by his wife of 31 years, Gloria Jean Jones; daughter, Pam (Jones) Moon (Dan) of Lexington, KY; son, Mark Jones (Merilou) of the Philippines; daughter, Cindy Jones (Gary) of Boulder, CO; stepsons, Mark Shank of Charleston, WV, and Michael Shank (Jose) of Santa Ana, CA; his sister, Shirley Riffee of Richmond, KY; several nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends.

Keith had seven awesome grandchildren, Callie Phillips, Oliver Jones, Danica Moon, Cresha Alburo, Crona Jones, Caspar Jones, and Isabella Andrade, whom he loved very much.

Keith graduated from Ansted High School (1951) and Berea College in Kentucky, and served in the Korean War in the United States Army. He was employed by Proctor & Gamble, owner of Fayette Mortgage Company, and co-owner of Bluegrass Data Service in Lexington, KY.

Keith was retired and a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Charleston, WV. He was a good man and had a servant’s heart. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand when someone was in need. He was a wonderful husband and father who will be in our hearts forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1402 W. Washington Street, Charleston, WV, with Pastor Don Biram officiating. The service will be live-streamed on the church’s website at https://ebcchas.org/wpstream/ebc-livestream/ .

Visitation will begin one hour prior at the church.

In lieu of flowers, in his memory, he requested love gifts go to the Emmanuel Baptist Church Quilting Ministry or a charity of your choice.

  1. Dear Cindy

We are truly sorry for the loss of your father.

We didn’t get much time with your father, but he seemed like a remarkable person, and his absence will be felt profoundly. We want you to know that we are here for you, ready to provide any support you may need.

May the cherished memories bring you comfort, and may you find strength in the love that surrounds you. Please take the time you need to grieve and remember that we are just a call away.

    With heartfelt sympathy,
    Laura & Peter Rizzo
We have donated to the quilting club from the entire Gomulinski Family

  2. You will be missed Uncle Keith. You were the first Uncle that talked to me on an adult level. I will never forget it.
In lieu of flowers and with Love, Dan and I are making donations to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks National Foundation in his name. The foundation in the form of grants supports Veterans, children and communities through out the U.S. and territories.
