Obituary
MERILDA SUSAN DUNCAN, 74, of Charleston, WV, passed away July 8, 2022.
She is survived by her children, Lovester “Bo” Duncan, Loretta Dawn Duncan and Patrick (Isata) Duncan; grandchildren, Jalisa Straughter, Razhane Andrews; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Celebration for Merilda’s life will be 12 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2022, at New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, 1404 1st Avenue, Charleston, WV 25837.
Gathering of family and friends will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until time of service.

We, the Pastor and members of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Powellton wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Duncan family on the passing of your loved one Sis. Merilda Duncan. We realize words may seem empty as you are grieving the loss of your loved one. In our times of loss, we can sometimes find ourselves overwhelmed with feelings of confusion and sorrow. Hopelessness and despair may well up in our hearts, and it can seem as though comfort is beyond our reach, but as Jesus Christ tells us, “Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted. We can assure that God in Heaven who is present in the world today through the Holy Spirit will be your strength. Take hope in God and rest assured that His love is more than enough to carry you. We want to assure you that you are in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time, and we know the same God who has helped you with past trials, will be ever present during this one as well.
