Obituary

Charles Mack Vanover, 66, of Oak Hill, WV, passed away April 26, 2021, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV, after a short illness.

He was born at home July 4, 1954, in Kincaid, WV, to the late Russell Mack Vanover and Martha Lee (Barker) Vanover.

Charles did masonry work for 20 years and also worked in the coal mines for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and always looked forward to these adventures.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathryn Louise Vanover Runyon; half-brothers, Harry Rosette and Buster Crum; and half-sisters, Helen Wolfe, Nino Clark, and Jean Sharp.

Charles is survived by the love of his life of 47 years, Carol Jean Vanover; also surviving are his sons, Charles Mack Vanover Jr. (wife Jamie) and Brian Vanover; daughters, Melissa Soutar (husband David) and Stephanie Waugh (husband Harry); sister, Armatha Vanover Kokoski (husband Ambrose); half-sister, Colleen Izzo Cook (husband DJ); half-brother, George Tommy Crum; grandchildren, Kandis Flint (husband James), Chase Vanover (wife Jasmine), Brandon and Amber Davis, Brittany Lilly (husband Johnny), David Soutar Jr. (Savannah), Heather Soutar (Harley), and Jordan, Justin, Brian Jr. and Madison Vanover; and great-grandchildren, Abel Flint, Nylah Vanover, Adrianna Davis, Ryder Slezak, Ellie Lilly, Brooklyn Yarbro.

Charles loved caring for his wife and watching his children and grandchildren grow up. He will be deeply missed.
