Obituary
Gary R. Stanley, 66, of Belle, WV, passed away July 21, 2021, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV after a long illness.
He was a 1972 graduate of Dupont High School, where he enjoyed wrestling.
Gary was a member of Belle Nazarene Church in Belle, and a retired painter. He enjoyed watching sports, including NASCAR, football and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Damon and Norma Stanley.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Stanley; sister, Linda Cooper of Culloden, WV; brothers, Bob Stanley of Honkers, NY, Cliff Stanley of Hampton, VA, and Dennis Stanley of Charlotte, NC; along with several nieces and nephews
Memorial service will held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Belle Nazarene Church, Belle, WV, with Pastor Dave Clark officiating.

Remembering Gary Stanley
When I moved to DuPont City in August, 1960, the first family I met was the Stanleys.
They lived about seven houses or so down 4th Avenue. Clifton was the oldest still at home, then Linda, my classmate, and next was Gary, followed by Dennis.
Recently I heard the news that Gary is no longer with us, and find myself saddened.
I always liked Gary and thought he was a really good guy. Not long ago I heard that Gary had a very successful painting business that was in demand by prominent customers throughout the Charleston area. Only two months ago I was pleased to see him at a memorial service for my best friend, Arthur (Gary) Butler.
“Who do you think I am?” he asked me, almost pounding his chest in mock pride.
As he had grown and filled out a good bit I thought he was Clifton. We laughed and he quickly updated me on his sister and brothers..He looked healthy and happy along side his sweet wife, Vicky. Later he showed remarkable poise and confidence as he got up to deliver some amusing stories he had shared with Butler,.I felt really happy that he had turned out quite well.
Condolences to his family. Certainly he will be missed. As for me, again, I am saddened, but I am thankful I got to see him one more time, looking good and enjoying good spirits.
That is how I will remember him.
