I am very sorry to hear this news albeit a year removed.I did not have the pleasure of meeting Ron in person but I did have a long conversation with him on the phone. I do a local doo wop radio show on WTSQ in Charleston and have played The Jades 1959 record numerous times. Ron was ecstatic that his record was actually being played on the radio. He was so happy to answer any questions I had. I will dig out the record and play it again on this weeks show. I am on from 6-8pm Sunday evening if you care to listen. Again my sincere condolences.

Ronnie and I shared many laughs and good times from the fifties right on up to now. Many good memories from our days at Lincoln Jr. High through our high school years at Stonewall. I enjoyed making Ronnie laugh. He would crack up. He was a very talented guy.. ..an artist and quite a good singer. Many don’t know that Ronnie made the last horseback ride dressed as Stonewall Jackson just as Billy Thomas did at the Stonewall football games. Though I’ve lived in NC most of my life WV is my home. Whenever I drifted back I always made a point to see Ronnie and Kay. I love them both.

    Dear Kay, Tracey and family,
Please know that you are in our prayers as we learned of the passing of your beloved husband, father and grandfather, Ron, from the Church Militant to the Church Triumphant. We trust that our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ will grant you strength, comfort and peace in these times.
Our families have shared many wonderful memories made in Kanawha City and the Charleston area as our daughter, Lisa, and Tracey developed a strong friendship that lasts to this day.
As we pray in the Orthodox Christian tradition, “With the saints give rest, O Christ, to the soul of Thy servant, James Ron Brooks, in that place of brightness, that place of verdure, that place of repose where there is neither sickness, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life everlasting.” We send our love.
