Obituary

P. Anthony “Butch” Taylor, 82, of Charleston, died on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at CAMC Memorial Hospice, Charleston.

He was born in Charleston, in 1940, to the late Percy C. Taylor and Marion Webster. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic High School and West Virginia State College and was a lifelong member of The Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Charleston.

In addition to his parents, Percy was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce White, and brother, Dr. Edward “Frank” Taylor.

He leaves behind a sister, Gwendolyn Simms, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Charleston, with the Very Rev. Father Donald X. Higgs officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Charleston.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Butch to the Needy Student Fund, Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1114 Virginia Street, East, Charleston, WV 25301.
