Obituary

Betty Lou Dyer Woody, 94, of Marmet, WV, passed into Glory on the morning of December 28, 2021.  She was born June 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Edward and Lenna Dyer. 

In addition to her parent’s, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Woody; son, William Monte Woody; Granddaughter Corey Ann Woody; and brother William Dyer. 

Betty graduated from Charleston High School and attended Marshall University.  In past years she was a member of Allied Artists, and her artistic abilities were well known. She worked for Kanawha County Schools at Chesapeake Elementary, and her artwork was present throughout the school on the library walls and hallways with colorful storybook characters and West Virginia scenes.  She also enjoyed writing and illustrating children’s books.

Before her death, she was the oldest living member of Marmet Christian Church, now Marmet Campus of Gateway Christian Church, of which her grandmother was one of the founding members.

Betty’s wishes were to be cremated, and there will be no service.
