Gale Patten of Charleston WV went home to the Lord on 09-22-21 after a long illness. Gale was preceded in death by her sons, Raymond & Michael Vorhes.
She leaves behind her daughter Jessica Patten, her son Donald Patten and her two brothers Mitchell & Basil Stavrakis. She has 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Gale was a true renaissance woman. Her talents were varied and many. She was a talented musician, cook, seamstress, restauranteur and artist. cooked and served meals for the governor of Georgia Lester Maddox, while she was manager of the Stone Mountain Inn.
Gale traveled extensively as a military wife. Gale was especially fond of her time in Hawaii and Alaska. Her extensive travels allowed her to see most every state in the union.
Gale held many jobs. She and her mother owned a restaurant in Danville WV. She was a food and beverage mgr at hotels, nursing homes and schools. Gale was a licensed dispensing optician for eyeglasses in the Charleston area. At the age of 70 Gale returned to school where she became a licensed nail technician. Gale was a great lover of music and the arts. had a great love of sports, in particular college football. She was always the loudest cheerleader. will be sorely missed by many.
A Life Celebration will be held at 11:00 am , Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Spring Hill Baptist Church, South Charleston, WV .
