Obituary

Jean Marie (Sullivan) Barnett entered the Heavenly realm early morning on May 27, 2021, after living with chronic illnesses.
She was born and raised in Oak Hill, WV, and a graduate of Oak Hill High School, class of 1978. She graduated from Morris Harvey College (UC) in Charleston, WV, with a nursing degree and later moved to the Charleston area to raise her children.
Jean had a kind and loving spirit that many were drawn to. She was often known as a person who would give the shirt off her back. Life wasn’t easy for her, but she never gave up. She loved Jesus, listening to music, singing and dancing, helping others, writing, movies and TV, quotes, reading, talking to friends and family, playing games, coloring, and laughing.
She valued friends and family above all and she was so incredibly loved. She is survived by her mother, Phyllis Sulesky of Oak Hill; sisters, Teresa Carden of Pineville, NC, and Sandra Smith (Allen) of Oak Hill; and brother, Wayne Sullivan. She also leaves behind two adult children, Stephanie Bragg (Nicholas) and Shawn Barnett (Priscilla), and two grandsons, Fisher and Benjamin. She had countless special cousins and family, as well as friends who were like family from as far as Ireland.
The family is forever grateful to the friends who helped her through the pandemic and all other times throughout the years. Their care helped enrich and prolong the end of her life.
Jean’s body has been cremated according to her wishes. We will make sure a part of her gets to Ireland and Alaska like she always wanted.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
Please sign the digital guestbook at www.barlowbonsall.com and leave your email address if you wish to be notified of the celebration. She would want you to think of her and listen to Joe Cocker’s “Love Lives On”.

Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston, WV, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
