Obituary
Marilyn Jo Caldwell, 73, of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, West Virginia.
She was born on April 25, 1948, to the late Frank and Juanita Watts, in Squire, West Virginia. She attended school in McDowell and Kanawha County. After graduating, she later met and married her husband, Norman Junius Caldwell. They moved to Jackson Street in Charleston, West Virginia, to raise their children. Marilyn worked many prestigious jobs during her life, among them being the nanny for the children of former Governor John D. “Jay” Rockefeller, IV, and a stay-at-home mom to Tiffany. Marilyn was a member of All Nations Revival Center, where she served on the Usher Board and the Missionary Board. She loved and cherished her church and church family.
Marilyn, lovingly known as “Sister,” will truly be missed for many things, with her cooking being at the top of the list, especially her macaroni and cheese! She was a loving and compassionate woman who never complained and never met a stranger. Marilyn loved everyone, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It brought her joy to spend time with them just talking and laughing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Johnny “Bookie” Watts and Thomas Tysor.
Marilyn is survived by her siblings, Virgelene McLeod, Brenda Alston, Frank Watts, Jr., Emanuel Watts, Donald Watts (Patricia), Debra Smith, and Larry Watts (Zena); her children, Tyrone Hawkins, Tiffany Caldwell, Clifford Coleman (Rhonda), Sandra Caldwell-Gooch (Ronnie), Charles Caldwell (Jenise), Agnes Caldwell, and Reginald Gunn; grandchildren, Keisha Hawkins, Breona Hawkins, Jo’ziah Caldwell-Sanders, Jeramiah Caldwell-Sanders, Blake Gooch, Kennedy Caldwell, Ashley Caldwell, Meghan Caldwell; great-grandchildren, Zavion Claire, Tajuan Dyess, Rihanna Caldwell, Gregory Caldwell; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Service will be held 12 noon Thursday, June 17, 2021, at All Nations Revival Center, 325 Academy Drive, Dunbar, West Virginia, with Bishop Frederick Hightower, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston, West Virginia.

To my extended family. Even though I did not know Marilyn, she was my first cousin and my heart goes out to those closest to her. Sickness and death are truly our enemies. We are left powerless when a loved one dies. Our fond memories are all we have, but those are so precious during times like these. The bible assures us that the resurrection hope is God’s means of reuniting us. As we continue to look forward to that day, I pray that each of you will gain a measure of strength by turning to God’s word daily.
