Obituary
Nancy Ellen Beane Wallace died peacefully at home on January 30, 2025, at the age of 95.
She was born in Charleston, WV, to Lola Lowe Beane and Lawrence S. Beane, in 1929. She began playing the piano for the Sunday School at Schwamb Memorial Presbyterian Church when she was still in elementary school, and continued to be an active church musician throughout her life. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class at Stonewall Jackson High School, and Phi Beta Kappa at Randolph Macon Women’s College. She married E. Stanley Wallace, Jr. a few days after her college graduation. She taught Latin and English in Savannah, GA, as Stan served in Korea, but they settled in Charleston, WV, after his return. She retired from Columbia Gas Transmission Co. and enjoyed extensive oversees travels including Australia, Egypt, Russia, England and Scotland, and all over Europe. Stan preceded her in death in 1999.
Nancy was an accomplished musician, playing the organ and piano as well as directing church choirs for adults and children. In addition to playing for the Kanawha Forum series, she played a concert of light classical music for Charleston’s “Good Night” celebration on New Year’s Eve in 2004. Nancy also enjoyed cooking and baking, and loved her dogs, riding horses, reading, and watching the birds and other wildlife in her backyard.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sarah Stump (Chuck) of Hurricane and Rev. Dr. Amy Parker (Don) of Charleston, and three grandchildren, Tory Parker, Brendan Stump, and Rachel Stump.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Village Chapel Presbyterian Church, 3818 Venable Ave, Kanawha City, WV, with the Rev. Dr. Todd Wright officiating. Her ashes will be interred at the Sam Beane Family Cemetery later this year.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
In lieu flowers, the family suggests donations to the Kanawha Charleston Humane Association, 1248 Greenbrier St, Charleston, WV 25311.
