Obituary

Pamela june phares, born september 10, 1948, passed peacefully from this life to join her mother and father, virginia and earl phares in heaven on february 2, 2016.

She is survived by her sister, diana phares rustemeyer; and niece, marnie amber rustemeyer.

In spite of many challenges, pamela was very active in her community and church. She attended
glenwood elementary school as a student of the first special education class in charleston, wv.

She was a member of the first girl scout troop for girls with special needs and was an active participant in special olympics at both the state and national level where she won gold and silver medals in swimming. She also participated as a skier in the winter special olympics at the state level. She helped carry the olympic torch thru charleston, met with governors and senators and spoke at the wv state general assembly as an advocate for people with special needs.

Pamela loved to work and meet people and she enjoyed her job at mcdonalds’s on capitol street and the food court at charleston town center.

Pamela loved to sing and dance and as a member of the choir at first presbyterian church enjoyed traveling with the choir to scotland and london. She loved to draw and several of her art projects won awards in juried exhibits held at the cultural center in charleston. She also starred in several musical productions sponsored by shawnee hills, most notably as sandy in grease.

A loving, kind heart and beautiful soul, she was and will remain an inspiration to all who knew her.

The family would like to especially thank the caregivers and staff at rem for their loving and caring hearts and hospice house-west for their excellent care.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to special olympics and/or hospice house all donations are appreciated.

The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.M. Thursday, february 4, 2016 at barlow bonsall funeral home, charleston, wv.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.M.., friday, february 5, 2016 at first presbyterian church, leon sullivan way, charleston, wv with dr. Jim roberts officiating. Burial will follow in tyler mt. Memory gardens, cross lanes, wv.
