Obituary

Patricia Jayne Slappe, 75, of Charleston went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 23, 2023.

Patricia was born in Wheeling, WV but is a long-time Charleston resident. It’s where she called home.

Patty was a caregiver at heart and was extremely loyal to the ones she loved. She took incredible care of her husband of 55 years and together they had two beautiful children. Patty loved being a homemaker and had an eye for the finer things in life. She had every inch of her home meticulously decorated and loved to host parties that would bring friends and family together. Most importantly she loved to have her family all under the same roof making memories. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Slappe, her parents Bernard Coyne and Elnor Stanley-Petri, stepmother Mary Coyne and beloved bonus dads Robert Stanley and Michael Petri; siblings Karen Khol (Robert), Robert Coyne (Peggy), and Penny Coyne.

She is survived by her son John Patrick Slappe (Susan), daughter Tawnie Carter (Jeff), and grandchildren Kaitlin Hornung (Dalton), Dugan Slappe (Cody), Morgan Wright (Austin), Samantha Slappe, and Sydney Carter. She is also survived by siblings Terry Coyne (Shirley), Rex Coyne (Julie), Renee Raines (Steve), Joy Bailey, Robin Mathews (Jon) and Tracy King (Tim). Patty is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, her brother-in-law Tommy Slappe (Patty), and beloved uncle Robert Rogerson (Ruth).

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
