Obituary
Patricia Lee Riley, also known as Patricia or Patty in the early years, peacefully passed away on February 4, 2024, in Charleston, West Virginia, at the age of 76.
She was born on January 23, 1948, in Charleston, West Virginia, to her late parents, Wanda Lee Hammack Young and Glenn Roscoe Young. She also was preceded in death by her sister Terri Lynn George (Young), sister Cindi Crites, and brother Terry Qualls.
Patricia was a hardworking and sharp individual, particularly skilled with numbers and business. She dedicated her career to finance, starting as a credit clerk. She held the position of Vice-President of Finance at Goodwill Industries of Kanawha Valley, Inc., in Charleston, West Virginia, until her retirement in 2013. Her commitment and expertise made a significant impact throughout her professional journey.
Beyond her career, Patricia was a loving mother, wife, sister, a wonderful partner in life, and a passionate mystery lover. She loved dressing well, with her nails and hair always classy. She found joy in spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Patricia’s smile could brighten any room, and it shone the brightest when surrounded by her loved ones, particularly the little ones. Family meant everything to her, and she believed in the importance of reciprocal support and love.
During her leisure time, Patricia enjoyed indulging in mystery stories, be they novels, movies, or TV series. She had a fondness for collecting cat figures, pictures, and various feline-related items. Patricia loved the beach and travel, with a tan that made that evident, and she cherished her vacations spent poolside or the beach, basking in the sun and building cherished memories. Additionally, she appreciated movies both at the theater and home. She loved Country music, but came around to liking Rock ‘N Roll as well. She enjoyed riding in fast cars, like a red Corvette, and driving big comfortable cars.
Patricia is survived by her beloved husband, Arthur E. (Gene) Riley, Jr., and her children: Mickey (Jeanne) Farmer, Rickey (Barb) Farmer, Matthew Scott (Madolyn) Farmer, Teresa (Gary) Haddox, and David (Alexis) Riley. She is also survived by her brother Glenn E. (Sue) Young, her brother Danny C. (Debbie) Young, her brother Randy L. (Sandy) Young, her sister Lisa (Kenny) Myers, as well as her grandchildren: Stormie, Starr, Dakota, Regina, Cody, Rickey Jr., Tyler, Scooter, Memphis, Sophia, and Zoe. Patricia was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Trey, Maddie Sue, Callen, Jovie, Karsen, Alzi, Kace, and Koleson.
Patricia’s life will be celebrated in a private family memorial gathering.
In memory of Patricia Lee Riley, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Her spirit, warmth, smile, and love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and especially by her husband. He wanted to spend Nine Lives with her.
