Obituary

Patricia Suzanne Hays Reed, 77, of Charleston, WV,  passed away on August 16, 2024, after a long illness.

Patty was born August 14, 1947, in Charleston and spent all of her life in the North Charleston area.  Her final years were spent at Genesis’ Dunbar Center, where she received excellent care throughout her time there.

She was the daughter of Robert D. Hays and Frances Robinson Hays.

Patty was an avid reader and enjoyed science fiction movies in her spare time.  She spent many years working for Business Computer Service in the 1970s and early 1980s and then served as an office manager with Quail Ridge Construction until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Wayne Reed, and brothers Robert Hays and Michael Hays.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Rawlings (Perry); her sons, Keith Reed of St Albans and David Reed of South Charleston; grandsons, David Reed Jr and Jeremy Reed, and granddaughter, Courtney Reed; three great grandchildren, Brielle, Kurena and Olivia; nieces, Sara Burke and Tammy Reed; nephews, Brian Fields, Barry Fields, Danny Reed, Andy Rawlings, Matthew Hays, Bailey Hays and Tyler Hays.

The family would also like to thank all other friends and family who were so kind and considerate to her throughout the years. You were always in her thoughts and she spoke of so many of you with a smile on her face.

There are no plans for a service at this time.
