Obituary

Purisima paglinawan eligado, 101 years old, of charleston, wv, passed away thursday, oct. 12, 2017 at camc memorial hospital in charleston.

Purisima was born in guinobatan, albay, philippines. She received her nursing degree at the university of the philippines and received her baccalaureate and master’s degree at the philippine women’s university in manila. As a registered nurse, she began her lifelong passion for her profession and was a respected member of the management team of perioperative nursing at the quezon institute. She and her late husband custodio, along with other local professionals, enjoyed being leaders in their hometown in guinobatan. their organization made major contributions in the development of their community.

Following her three oldest children, purisima and custodio moved to cleveland, ohio in 1973 where they continued their careers in health care. They both moved to charleston after retiring in 1984.

Purisima was a devoted mother/grandmother and enjoyed traveling, cooking, sewing and sharing helpful ideas with family and friends. Purisima was predeceased by her husband, dr. Custodio eligado. Mrs. Eligado is survived by her children: arturo eligado, erlinda eligado-serna (lorenzo), edna eligado-portugal (salvador). Neilo eligado, arlene eligado-dalisan (dan), and delia eligado-rhoads (marc); as well as by her grandchildren: dennis, monique, brian, brad, brent, rosalie, melissa, rowena, salvador jr., neil, justin, alexandra, and matthias; and great grandchildren: morgan, trevor, ronan, parker, campbell, briella, brody, brennan, jasmine, kaitlin, and adrian. Rose and irene, purisima’s companions have become an important member of the family.

Funeral mass will be 11:00 a.M. Saturday, october 21, 2017. At basilica co-cathedral of the sacred heart in charleston. Interment will follow at mount olivet catholic cemetery, charleston, wv.

Visitation will be held, saturday, october 21, 2017, 10:00 a.M. At basilica co-cathedral of the sacred heart (pavilion building) in charleston
