Obituary
Rebecca “Becky” Hodges, 77, of Charleston, WV, born on April 29, 1946, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, William “Russell” Hodges; her parents, Burl A. and Mary B. Sawyers; her sister, Myra S. Jarrett, and her brother, Joe A. Sawyers.
Becky is survived by her sister, Judy S. Crouse; her two brothers-in-law, John “Buzz” Crouse and James “Dinky” Jarrett; her two daughters, Katie Hodges Swartz (Alex) and Edie Hodges Carroll (Brock), and the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Russell (22), Sophia (19), Sidney (16), and Reeve (14). She was also “Aunt Becky” to her numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Becky worked in service for the federal government for over 40 years, including Secretary for Congressman John Slack and then Office of Hearings and Appeals. After her retirement, she became a full-time “Maw Maw” and frequently volunteered at her church, Christ Church United Methodist. She always had a soft spot for animals and loved everything on four legs, including her sweet dog, Clover. Becky lit up every room she walked into with her funny stories, infectious laugh, and million-dollar smile.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church United Methodist, 1221 Quarrier Street, Charleston, WV 25301 or the Kanawha Charleston Humane Association, 1248 Greenbrier Street, Charleston, WV 25311.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Christ Church United Methodist, with Reverend Dr. Jay Parkins officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memorial Gardens, Cross Lanes, WV.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church.

You will be so missed Becky. I’m thankful I knew you and I knew you as Myra was a friend. We had so much fun at the pool we belonged to and to you two, her daughters,and to your children, I send my deepest sympathy and love. Becky had such a great personality that everyone was drawn to her. She leaves a big void in our lives Resr in peace..
