Obituary

Richard Ernest Ware, 66, was born in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late Edward N. and Fannie (Jackson) Ware on February 11, 1957. He peacefully departed this Earthly life on Monday, November 20, 2023.

Richard was educated in Kanawha County Schools, graduating from Charleston High School. After high school, Richard worked as an electrician for several companies and as a lineman for the local cable company. He began having major health issues and was unable to continue in his chosen career path. As his health allowed him, he enjoyed volunteering at St. John’s Manna Meal program, helping to prepare and serve food to those in need.

Richard attended and became a member of St. Paul AME Church in Charleston, under the leadership of Rev. John Sylvia, where he enjoyed attending Bible Study and talking about Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother James Ware, sisters Sheila Sims and Lauranna Ware, niece Shannon Brown and great-nephew Akeem Andrews-Tyson.

Richard leaves to cherish his memories, son, Dustin Ware (Andrea) of Columbus, Ohio; granddaughter, Jacynda Ware Columbus; brothers, Jerry L. Ware (Amanda) and Houston B. Ware, both of Charleston, Stephen L Ware (Karen) of Sandy Springs, Georgia, and sisters, Deborah Tyson (Richard) of Houston, Texas, Rev. Carolyn F. Hairston of Charleston and Lisa Lugo (Rafael) of Alexandria, Virginia. Richard will also be missed by sister-in-law Linda Ware of Alpharetta, Georgia, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023, at St. Paul AME Church, 1108 Second Avenue, Charleston, West Virginia.

Visitation will begin one hour prior at the church.
