Obituary

Ronald Livingston Ellis, Sr., finished his life’s journey November 3, 2025. He was born in Charleston on November 9, 1928, the son of Lovic and Mildred Ellis. He would have been 97 on November 9, 2025.

Ron is survived by his wife, Anita Floyd Ellis, and devout children, Ronald L. Ellis, Jr., “Chip” and Desiree Floyd Ellis of New Jersey. He left granddaughters whom he adored, Dr. Taylor Ellis, Kayne Ellis, Hannah Ellis and Rachel Eddins. In addition, his sister Kay Sheets from Texas, sister-in-law Delores Cantees, brother-in-law and wife Bill and Kim Floyd, and daughter-in-law Terrell Ellis. Ron also loved those who joined the immediate family, Garett Foggin. Adrian Cirnaru and Michelle Erskine.

Ron graduated from Charleston High School in 1946 and attended Morris Harvey College and West Virginia State College. He was a lifetime member of St. Marls United Methodist Church, where he was actively involved, serving as chairperson of several committees.

He worked for Union Carbide for 40 years at the South Charleston Tech Center, as well as assignments in Texas, Puerto Rico and Connecticut.

Ron had a quick wit and enjoyed everything, including traveling, skiing, fishing, and most of all, activities with his family. He was a devoted caregiver for his family and so appreciated his St. Marks family who assisted him, as well as his therapists.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate his wonderful life at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 900 Washington Street East, Charleston, WV, with interment immediately following.

Visitation will begin one hour prior at the church.
