Obituary

Ruth ellen spruce, 90, of charleston, departed her earthly home for her eternal home in heaven on march 31, 2017. She was preceded in death by: her beloved husband, george w. Spruce, jr.; her son, george w. Spruce iii; her parents; and her sister, anne pittman. Ruth ellen was a life-long charleston resident. She was a true example of a proverbs 31 woman and spent her life taking care of those around her, especially her husband, children, and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker, cook, and baker, but most of all, she will be remembered for her love of the lord and her church, morris memorial united methodist church.

Surviving to cherish her memory and wonderful life, are: her daughter, deborah burdett; grandson, george w. Spruce iv and his wife, tara; granddaughter, carissa mcburney and her husband, james; great-grandchildren, dillon tucker; jakob, hannah, alexa, and anderson spruce; elijah, and soon expected, easton mcburney; brother, david hall, terre haute, in; and nephew, tim pittman.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.M., wednesday, april 5, 2017, at morris memorial united methodist church, 4615 maccorkle avenue, charleston with rev. Mark flynn officiating. Entombment will follow at cunningham memorial park, st. Albans.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.M., tuesday, april 4, 2017, at morris memorial united methodist church, and one hour prior to the service at the church on wednesday.

The family would like to give special thanks to genesis healthcare teays valley center for the wonderful care they provided ruth ellen and her family throughout the last year.
