Obituary

Samuel h. “june” slack, jr., a 91 year old wwii, korea and vietnam naval war veteran passed away at home with his family. June loved playing the base guitar in country western bands and with the masters gospel trio. He enjoyed playing canasta and the game of acey-deucy. June remained very patriotic all of his long life. He always had something witty to say on any subject or occasion.

He received around the clock care from his wife and adult children. His granddaughter terra belcher, grandson, jonathan slack and great-grandson, jacob meador spent many hours comforting him as hospice provided their always wonderful care.

June will be missed by his wife jane of nearly 66 years, his children; timothy slack (jessica), nanette dupuy (mark) of fl, matthew slack and laura sweeney (anthony) along with four grandchildren; terra belcher, jonathan slack, therese dupuy and gabrielle dupuy; four great-grandchildren, ashley meador, jacob meador, chloe belcher and olivia belcher; and two great-great-grandchildren, bentley clark and adalyne sigmon.

Preceding june in death were his parents, samuel h. Slack sr. And ida mae (oakes) slack; siblings; dimitra myers, walter bill slack, franklin melvin slack, and two siblings that died as young children. Also preceding him in death was his still very much missed daughter-in-law marilyn banayat slack.

A military funeral will be held 11:00 a.M., thursday, july 6, 2017 at putney memorial church, 3405 riverlane drive, charleston, wv 25306.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the alzheimer’s association or to hospice so they may continue on the caring and compassionate work they do.
