Obituary
Sandra ruth orletsky, 76, of charleston, passed away at her residence on friday, september 23, 2016.
Sandy was born in washington, dc, to the late stephen and evelyn patterson orletsky.
Sandy was a long-time employee of appalachia education laboratory/edvantia and ended her career as director of professional development. She was a valued mentor and colleague at the lab and touched many educators during her long tenure. She was an animal lover to the end and cherished her furry family members. Sandy had a larger than life personality and had a huge impact on all she met.
She was a graduate of american university, teachers college of columbia university, and did post-graduate work at the ohio state university. She was a longtime member of magic valley kennel club, phi mu sorority, was active with soroptimist international of charleston, and a supporter of ywca sojourners.
She is survived by her life partner, beth rutledge, and her furry companions jake and mata hari;
brother, richard s. (patricia) orletsky of norfolk, va; nephews, bob (cathy) orletsky and mark orletsky; nieces, rachel, jillian and stephanie orletsky.
Memorial service will be held at a later date.
Thanks to all her medical providers; visiting angels, especially connie, faye and summer, who helped her in the last few months of her life.

Beth, You May Not Remember Me But I Was Your Nielsen Tv Ratings Rep When I Moved To Charleston Over 30 Years Ago. In My Numerous Visits To Your Home On The West Side The Two Of You Were Always Kind And Welcoming, Even When I Blew Up Your New Tv One Time And Had To Buy You A New One To Replace It. I Saw The Obit And Thought Of Those Early Days When I First Moved To Wv. My Sympathy For Your Loss.
